December 22, 2016 (A372). 13th European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS 2017), September 17-21, 2017, Genève, Switzerland.
Call for contributions: On behalf of the Organizing Committee of EUCAS 2017, it is our pleasure to call for your technical contribution to the conference. All technical contributions shall address physics and engineering aspects of applications of superconductivity, covering the whole spectrum: from materials to applications, from established LTS to prospected HTS, from small-size to large scale. See the submission category list as a guideline. All abstracts will be reviewed for relevance and content by the Program Committee. Note that abstracts only weakly related to superconductivity should be submitted to specialized conferences. Examples are abstracts dealing only with smart power grid, specific cryogenic and manufacturing equipment, power converters, modeling or code development.
Abstract submission: Online abstract submission opens December 15, 2016, through the conference website. The deadline for abstract submission is March 31st, 2017. Abstracts submitted post-deadline will only be considered at the discretion of the Program Chair.
First Announcement of Cryogenics Days 2017 - 2nd International Workshop on Cooling of High-Temperature Superconductor Applications
December 22, 2016 (A371). The European Cryogenics Days 2017 will be organized in conjunction with the 2nd International Workshop on Cooling of High-Temperature Superconductor Applications in Karlsruhe, Germany, 13 -15 September 2017. This meeting is preceding the European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS) that takes place at CERN, Geneva, September 17-21, 2017.
The meeting is organized by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Cryogenics Society of Europe (CSE) and the European Society on Applied Superconductivity (ESAS) together with the HEPTech Network and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
December 09, 2016 (A369). The 28th International Conference on Low Temperature Physics will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 9 til' 16 August 2017. The conference is now open for registration and a call for abstracts is out.
Details for registration and the submission of abstracts can be found here: http://www.lt28.se.
December 08, 2016 (A368). The 2nd International Workshop: Towards Room Temperature Superconductivity - SUPERHYDRIDES and MORE will be held in Orange, CA, USA, from May 08-09, 2017.
December 5, 2016 (A367). The Research Center Juelich (FZJ), Germany, organizes the 48th IFF Spring School on the topic of “Topological Insulators, Skyrmions, and Majoranas”. Lectures will start on Monday, March 27th and end on April 7th in the afternoon. The School intends to attract graduate students, young scientists and other professionals desiring to familiarize themselves with the topic in a relatively systematic manner.
December 5, 2016 (A366). On November 28, 2016, the U.S. Department of Energy announced nearly $25 million for 13 projects aimed at advancing technologies for energy-efficient electric motors through applied research and development. The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s (EERE) Next Generation Electric Machines projects will address the limitations of traditional materials and designs used in electric motor components by cost-effectively enhancing their efficiency, improving their performance, and reducing weight. This effort will support innovative approaches that will significantly improve the technology in industrial electric motors, which use approximately 70 percent of the electricity consumed by U.S. manufacturers and nearly a quarter of all electricity consumed nationally.
November 28, 2016 (A363). The 16th International Superconductive Electronics Conference (ISEC 2017) will be held in Sorrento, Italy from June 12th to 16th, 2017. All the information on the Conference venue, registration, and paper submission is available at the ISEC 2017 website http://www.isec2017.org. Specifically, Abstract submission starts on December 1st, 2016 with the deadline of January 24th, 2017.
November 03, 2016 (A361). The European Society for Applied Superconductivity (ESAS) seeks nominations for the ESAS AWARD 2017, which will be awarded at the European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS) 2017 in Geneva, subject to the nomination of an appropriate candidate, to an individual without age restriction to "recognise excellence in advancing the knowledge of applied superconductivity over the past five years". The award will be announced in the regular ESAS (European Society for Applied Superconductivity) communications and will be presented to the award winner during EUCAS 2017 in Geneva.
October 14, 2016 (A360). The Jan Evetts SUST Award 2017 will be presented at the European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS) 2017 in Geneva recognizing The Best Paper published in SUST in 2017 by an Early Career Researcher.
2017 will mark the 30th anniversary of Superconductor Science and Technology (SUST), a journal from IOP Science. The IOP team and the SUST Editorial Board are dedicated to supporting early career researchers and are delighted to launch The Jan Evetts SUST Award, a new annual early career best SUST paper award named in fond memory of our founding Editor, Professor Jan Evetts.
