March 15, 2017 (A387). In 2017, the ESAS Summer School on Superconductivity will be held from June 25th to 30th at Lans-en-Vercors, France, close to Grenoble. In addition to ESAS, this school is supported by IEEE CSC and AFF-CCS (kind of a French ESAS).
The school will cover various subfields of superconductivity from physics through materials, cryogenics instrumentation, and modeling to large scale applications (magnets, FCL, cables, rotating machines, fusion, etc.). Superconductive electronics won’t be included. Technical visits will be organized on the last day (Friday) morning. Several industrial speakers will highlight the industrial aspects of superconductivity with the market in constant growth.
This school is intended not only to provide a better understanding of superconductivity in general but also to develop links and networking between the community members, especially the young one. All participants will present a poster, to facilitate exchanges. The warm Domaine des Girards and a hike on the wonderful Vercors plateau followed by an evening in an Alpine restaurant will also favor this. To maintain the essential conviviality, the number of participants will be limited to a maximum of 30.
The summer school should be of interest to students (Master, PhD), Post-Docs, engineers and scientists, and for those who want to learn more about superconductivity. Participants will be chosen based on an application, which should include a short CV specifying the interested person’s field of work and a letter of introduction by her/his supervisor.
Applications should be sent to [email protected] before the deadline of April 21st, 2017. Notification will be given before May 5, 2017. In the case you need a visa, please specify it in the application.
The school fees (VAT included), include tuition, meals, accommodation and transports during the school:
• 350 Euros/person for students (master, PhD).
• 500 Euros/person for post-docs.
• 850 Euros/person for all other participants.
