September 23, 2014 (HE91). The inaugural Workshop on Superconductive Circuit Modelling and Layout Extraction (MODLEX 2014) was held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, from 1 - 2 September 2014. The workshop was aimed at discussing key aspects of circuit modelling for layout extraction and verification purposes, the improvement of modelling software and techniques, and verification requirements for new superconducting logic families. Invited speakers (Prof Nobuyuki Yoshikawa and Prof Yuki Yamanashi from Yokohama National University) complemented the line-up of pan-African and Japanese researchers and students that presented recent progress at the workshop.
Some of the topics covered during the workshop are:
- Parameter extraction methods and mathematics
- Design of magnetic field-tolerant SFQ circuits
- Design challenges for realizing large-scale SFQ circuits with large bias currents
- Multicore acceleration of numerical methods
- Magnetic field calculation in LSI circuit layouts
- Generic models for SFQ hardware description language descriptions
- Layout-versus-schematic verification
- Effects of exciting currents on AQFP gates
- Magnetically coupled circuits in the presence of ambient fields
