January 5, 2015 (HE97). The 2nd International Workshop on Superconducting Sensors and Detectors (IWSSD2014) was held from Nov. 5 to 8, 2014, at the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIMIT-CAS). The workshop was sponsored by the Shanghai Center for SuperConductivity (SC2, CAS) and the State Key Lab of Functional Materials for informatics, SIMIT-CAS. It was co-sponsored by CSIC Pride (Nanjing) Cryogenic Technology Co. Ltd. Dr. Zhen WANG and Dr. Lixing YOU were Chair and Deputy Chair of this Workshop.
In all, 74 researchers from 7 countries attended the workshop. It featured five plenary talks given by John Clarke from UC Berkeley, USA, Cathy Foley from CSIRO, Australia, Kent Irwin from Stanford University, USA, Jaw-Shen Tsai from RIKEN, Japan, and Yi ZHANG from Juelich Research Center (FZJ), Germany, together with 21 invited talks, 10 oral talks and 18 posters. The workshop program and abstracts can be downloaded at: http://iwssd2014.csp.escience.cn/dct/page/65580 or via SNF Announcement A274U.
The workshop scope included an IEC-IEEE joint meeting or mini-workshop devoted to international standards on superconducting electronics.
IWSSD is a series of international workshops created to facilitate exchange on latest research into and development of superconducting sensors, detectors and their applications. The first workshop was held in Daejeon, Korea, chaired by Dr. Yong-Hamb KIM (KRISS, Korea) and Dr. Masataka OHKUBO (AIST, Japan).
As decided by the international advisory committee, the next workshop will be organized by Dr. Masataka OHKUBO in Japan.
