ABC Science News Article on Cathy Foley, CSIRO

December 3, 2011 (PN1). The ABC Science online, a science news feature of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), published on November 30th, 2012 an article on Cathy Foley, current Chief on the CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering Division. In recent past, she and her group performed pioneering work on SQUID systems for geomagnetic exploration of minerals, which were transitioned to industry and resulted in the discovery of mineral ores worthy many billions of dollars. Some of that work is briefly evoked in the article RN17 on “The Superconductivity at CSIRO” by John Macfarlane. It is described in more detail in “The SQUID Handbook” and in the upcoming “100 Years of Superconductivity” book to be soon published by CRC. Cathy is one of co-authors of both these books.
