Applied Superconductivity: Handbook on Devices and Applications

November 26, 2014 (HP87).  We were asked to announce an upcoming new handbook, which should hit the bookstore shelves in early 2015.   It is the “Applied Superconductivity: Handbook on Devices and Applications” edited by Paul Seidel of the university of Jena, an ambitious attempt to cover the whole broad field.  Indeed, the very long list of co-authors on Contents pages may remind one of “Who’s Who in Applied Superconductivity”, which at least promises competent, up-to-date coverage of that whole field.  The handbook is to be published by Wiley-VCH, its Library of Congress number will be ISBN 978-3-527-41209-9.

It is SNF policy to avoid any publicity of commercial products, including books.  However, considering that for some decades there has been no competent and concise single book coverage of applications of superconductivity, while there is dire need of such a publication, we feel that announcing this particular handbook and its imminent availability may be sufficiently useful for our readers to justify making an exception.  Of course, we are not yet familiar with the book and, therefore, cannot express any opinion on its quality.
