Cryocourse 2007
November 27, 2007 (H15). In July we announced the Marie Curie Advanced Cryogenics Course, “Cryocourse 2007”. This year this intensive course in cryophysics and cryogenics, the science and technology of low temperatures, was given from September 14th to September 27th, 2007 in Grenoble/Chichilianne (south-east of France). Theoretical and practical (“hands-on”) courses covered the main topics of cryogenics, from the fundamental physics to industrial applications. The 41 participants, mainly from EU countries, assessed the event very positively.
We should note that the course, coordinated and administrated by several European low-temperature laboratories, is supported by the European Commission under the Contract N° MSCF-CT-2006-045, see: http://cryocourse.grenoble.cnrs.fr/MC-cryo.htm . The 2007 event was already the 4th of its kind. In earlier years, the course was held in Grenoble, Helsinki, and Eindhoven. The next course should be given in Helsinki in 2009. In 2008, a cryoconference will be organized for young researchers (PhDs and postdocs). More information on this cryoconference will be forthcoming in Announcements.
