Inauguration of LHC Delayed Due to Incident During Commissioning
September 20, 2008 (HE23). In Highlights HE19 and HE22 we informed our readers about impressive progress in commissioning LHC, the world’s largest particle accelerator. Today, we have to report a setback due to an incident in commissioning the last sector of the magnet ring. This incident will lead to a minimum of two months down time for the LHC operation. More details can be found in today’s CERN press release.
