The Second ZIEHL Workshop Held in Bonn
April 2, 2010 (HE45). The second German national Workshop ZIEHL II devoted to high-temperature superconductivity (HTS) in energy applications was held in Bonn, Germany on March 16 an 17th, 2010. The meeting attracted 162 registered participants. Compared to the first event in 2008 (ZIEHL I), the participation of energy industry (not from HTS community) increased and several participants from the financial and venture capital sector were also present. The organizers consider the meeting to have been a great success, much surpassing ZIEHL I.
The workshop was clearly focused on applications and markets with no research reports. The program and links to presentation slides (in German) of almost all talks are accessible at http://www.ivsupra.de/content/view/132/90/.
In the opening talk, the representative of the German Ministry of Economy (BMWi) Dr. Kübler talked about the energy strategy of the German Government and the European SET plan to support power grid innovations and energy efficient technologies. He pointed to the current BMWi support of HTS-based energy technology with the bright perspective for future projects in this field.
