Startup of LHC Rescheduled to Spring of 2009
September 25, 2008 (HE24). In our Highlight HE23 we informed our readers about the significant setback in commissioning of LHC: an incident in the last sector of the magnet ring. Due to the necessary warm up and cool down period, time needed for repairs and investigation of causes, as well as the obligatory winter maintenance, the startup of LHC is now postponed until early spring of 2009. The latest CERN press release of September 23rd provides some scant details.
