Dr. Sasha Ishmael is a senior scientist at Lupine Materials and Technology, Inc. (LMT). Since 2017 she has served as principal investigator on SBIR/STTR federal grants, and as scientific lead and other contracts awarded to LMT. Here her responsibilities are focused on the research and development of optical fiber-based sensing solutions for superconducting magnets and the technology transfer to marketable solutions.

She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL, and pursued postdoctoral research at the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC.

Prior to her postdoctoral work, she had seven years of experience in industry. She worked on the magnet design and measurements of superconducting and resistive magnets for customers in a variety of application areas including medical, high-energy physics, and research for electrical power generation & distribution. She holds patents in the areas of electrical power systems and medical devices. In addition to her Council ExCom role, Sasha currently serves as the Student Support Chair, and the Diversity & Inclusion Co-Chair.
