Abstract

The topical review “Progress in superconducting REBa2Cu3O7 (RE = rare earth) coated conductors derived from fluorinated solutions,” X. Obradors et al., Supercond. Sci. Technol. 37 (2024) 053001 (54pp) critically summarizes the progress achieved by the use of chemical solution deposition methods to grow superconducting REBa2Cu3O7 (REBCO) coated-conductor films and the efforts in the upscaling to a reliable manufacturing technology. Tailoring the pinning microstructure and artificial pinning centers allows an optimization of the critical currents.
