TAS Special Section on the SPARC TFMC program
The SPARC Toroidal Field Model Coil, shown at the bottom left alongside the superconducting magnet test facility at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, achieved a peak field-on-conductor of 20.1 T, demonstrating the viability of large-scale, high-field REBCO magnets suitable for compact fusion energy devices.
IEEE Transactions on Superconductivity’s March 2024 Issue announces a Special Section on the SPARC TFMC program, which built and tested a prototype (20 T / 3 meters) HTS TF coil for a future compact Tokamak.
